It is often said about Michael's performances these days, "Michael English, more than a concert." An illustration of this is Michael's recent concert in Detroit, Michigan at the Straight Gate International Church.

Michael was the featured guest vocalist during their Tuesday evening service and while those present warmly welcomed Michael, there was something else beyond Michael's singing that happened. Michael himself said he felt there was someone present who needed to hear his testimony. So he told it. His no-excuses-no-holds-barred account of his most public personal pain brought the entire sizable sanctuary to an attentive silence. The term "you could hear a pin drop" came immediately to mind as Michael chronicled his rise to fame and his fall afterwards because - as he puts it - "he took his eyes off Jesus".

Michael did sing of course, but he tells people these days, "It's not about the voice" any longer. Anyone present at his concerts will probably tell you the same thing. It's as much about his testimony these days as it is about his powerful voice.

The evidence is presented by those who are kind enough to share their thoughts after attending a Michael English concert or event. "You've given me hope again…" as one writer put it. "I knew the Lord spoke to my heart in so many different ways after hearing your testimony…" another professed. "My drug addicted husband attended your concert the other night and after hearing your testimony he is going to check himself into rehab…" still another wrote.

So when you hear or read, "Michael English - more than a concert," it's not just a catch phrase!
